It sounds like the opening of a joke, and in 1981 it more or less was: Børge Godsk Jensen ran hotels, Ole B. Nielsen booked bands, and between them they decided that what Djursland needed was an amusement park. They built it just north of Nimtofte, a village twenty-three kilometres west of Grenaa and thirty-six east of Randers, in farm country with no obvious claim on anyone's holiday plans. In 2025 the place recorded 885,000 visitors. Nielsen's sons Henrik and Michael run it now, and it has expanded in some form nearly every year of its existence.
