Randers sits at 56 degrees north, where midsummer days run to around seventeen hours of light and midwinter days barely clear seven - and the animals inside the domes come from latitudes where the difference between the longest and shortest day is measured in minutes, not hours. A tropical rainforest does all of this without thinking. Here, every part of it has to be manufactured: the day length, the humidity, the heat, the light. What visitors walk into feels like weather. It is actually a very carefully maintained argument with the Danish climate.
