A century later their surnames appear on speakers in Tokyo apartments and hotel lobbies in Los Angeles, and the town where they started still hosts the head office. Struer sits on the southwestern side of Venø Bay, in the western reaches of the Limfjord, with a population of 9,893 as of 1 January 2025. It has a harbour, a railway junction, a grammar school in the old station buildings, and a global luxury brand - an unusual set of assets for a place this size, and a reminder that Danish industry grew in some very small rooms.
